very important english to russian translation please
« on: October 02, 2008, 01:51:59 PM »
I need to see my friend in istanbul but her russian boyfriend says no and refuses to speak english. I dont want to offend him but i need to see my friend and make sure things are fine. So I thought I should write :

'Where do you live in istanbul? Close to Tarabiya or Taksim? Why dont you let me see her? we can meet 3 of us... So I know she's safe with you. Thats all...'

but please not in cryllic alphabet.. and i dont want to be formal with him..  Many many thanks in advance..

Also pls what does  'tak rasstroena'  mean?

Thank you very much.

here is the translation for you:

Gde ty zhivete v Istambule? Ty blizhe k Tarabiya ili Taksima? Pochemu ty ne razreshaesh' mne uvidet' ee? My mogli by vstretit'sja troem... Takim obrazom ty budesh' znat', chto ona v bezopasnosti ryadom s toboj. I vse...

Tak rasstroena means I'm so dissapointed.

Thank you.

I wouldn't go with that translation if I were you, it's got mixed up grammar and inaccurate translations (no offense to whoever wrote it, poss that it's just a lack of understanding of the English passage)...  ie, it's a mix of formal and informal (the noun is informal, whereas the verb that goes with it is formal) and it translates back to English as "Where do you live in Istanbul?  Closer to Tarabaya or closer to Taksima?  Why are you not allowing me to see (glimpse) her?  We could meet in three... this way you will know that she is safe next to you.  And that's it."  Get's the idea across, but there are several leaps there...  try this:

Zdravstvuyte (hello), gde vy zhivyote v Stambule, vy zhivyote okolo Tarabaya ili Taksim?  Pochemu vy ey ne dayote videt'sya so mnoy?  Esli eto vas bol'she ustrayivayet, to my smozhem vstretit'sya vtroyom.  Ya vsevo lish' xochu ubedit'sya v tom, shto ona v bezopasnosti.

additionally, rasstroena-- she's upset (very much so, "tak" means "very" when used that way)
